Reconciliation classes (Confession) at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for second graders at Holy Family School or public school will begin Sunday, September 27th for 2020-2021. Upon receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, children will begin preparation for receiving the sacrament of First Holy Eucharist (Communion) in the Spring of 2021.
Children prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist through a two-year process at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Holy Family students must have attended at least one year of education at a Catholic School or at a parish faith formation before beginning preparation in 2nd grade or higher. Students from other schools need to enroll in Immaculate Heart of Mary’s Children’s Faith Formation Religious Education in first grade. They enroll in Sacramental Preparation in 2nd grade or higher, after completing one year of Children’s Faith Formation Religious Education. Our diocesan guidelines require parents and children to be prepared together in their parish community.
Children need to be in class for a complete year prior to participating in sacramental preparation, either attending Holy Family School or IHM Faith Formation classes.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Starting in September, we like to offer the readings for Sunday Mass in a different format for our younger disciples. Children from 5 – 12 years of age are invited to the chapel with catechists and adult leadership to hear the word of God proclaimed and explained by catechists. Their ministry is to help open up the word for these children and to experience Jesus Christ in the scriptures.
Please pray about being a leader catechist, and aide or an adult to help with supervision. May the Lord guide our hearts to respond generously and faithfully!
