Volunteers, the "Heart" of Immaculate Heart of Mary

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, with the support of the Diocese of Pueblo, joyfully encourages our family of faith to continue growing in the ways of "Intentional Discipleship" as we walk our faith journey. Serving within our ministries, the "focus is people, not programs." Together, we strive to help one another deepen our faith, build trust, grow in our understanding of who Jesus is, and choose to follow Him more closely.

All IHM adult (18+ yrs old) volunteers must fulfill requirements to serve: Fill out an IHM volunteer packet, watch the Diocesan Safe Environment Program videos, and submit to a free background check provided by the Diocese.

All IHM minor (7-17 yrs old) volunteers must fulfill requirements to serve: Fill out an IHM Teen volunteer packet.
LITURGY
Altar Servers: Joyfully help and assist the Priests and Deacons during the parts of the Liturgy/Mass.
Requirements to serve: Be age 7+, have received First Communion, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.
Eucharistic Ministers: Spread the love of Christ through the Eucharist during the Mass.Requirements to serve - Be age 13+, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Lectors: Courageously proclaim the Sacred Scripture at Mass and other liturgies.Requirements to serve: Be age 7+, have received First Communion, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Hospitality: A welcoming host who joyfully provides assistance to the people coming to Mass and special events within the parish.
Requirements to serve – Be age 7+, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Sacristans: Assist with Mass setup and purification of vessels.
Requirements to serve – Be age 18+, have served in at least one Liturgical Ministry role at Mass, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Music: Sings and/or uses musical talents during Mass and other church services. Will work under IHM Music Staff or a Ministry Leader.
Requirements to serve - Be age 7+, have received First Communion, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Liturgical Environment: Our worship space gives expression to the seasons of our faith usingsymbols,art,flowersandcoloredlinens,asafewexamples. Thisministrydecorates for the Mass and other prayer services. Works under IHM Staff or Ministry Leaders.Requirements to serve – Be age 7+, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.


RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - Assist or Lead a Faith Group Gathering

Adult Catechist: Guiding and informing Pre-K through adults in the Catholic faith.Requirements to serve – Be age 21+, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Youth Catechist Aide: Helping the Adult Catechist Ministry Leader to guide and inform Pre-K through 5th grade youth in the Catholic faith.
Requirements to serve - Be in middle or high school, have received first communion, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Vacation Bible School Adult Leader: Hosting 3 to 5 days of fun during the summer as youth explore their faith.
Requirements to serve – Be age 21+, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Vacation Bible School Teen Leaders: Youth assisting the VBS Adult Leader with hosting 3 to 5 days of fun during the summer as youth explore their faith.
Requirements to serve - Be in middle or high school, have received first communion, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Bible Studies: An adult overseeing a group of IHM parishioners using one of many series available in the parish office or a credited series and approved series.
Requirements to serve – Be age21+, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

PARISH & FAMILY LIFE

Homebound Communion: Parishioners who faithfully take the body and blood of Christ to those unable to participate in the celebration of the Mass.
Requirements to serve – Be age 21+, have been confirmed, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

MAINTENANCE

OFFICE/BOOKKEEPING
Parish Office: Work under IHM Staff by joyfully welcoming visitors to the parish office, assisting with incoming phone calls and staff projects as needed.
Requirements to serve – Be at least 15 years old, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.

Money Counters: Work under IHM Staff as a team member for faithfully counting weekly donations and special collections throughout the year.
Requirements to serve – Be at least 21 years old, go through training, and complete IHM Volunteer requirements as listed above.
